TESE - Thesaurus for Education Systems in Europe – 2006 Edition
TESE is a multilingual documentary language for indexing resources intended to assist with information searches. This thesaurus which concentrates on the activities of the Eurydice Network – focusing on education systems and policies in Europe – takes account of the most recent developments in the field of education.
It is planned to produce the first edition of TESE in 14 languages: Czech, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish. It will be possible to access these language versions as they are completed in turn.
In the left-hand menu, select the language in which you want to use TESE and then either of two browsing modes.
Search for a descriptor: just a single word should be typed. Truncation (*) may be used to broaden searches. This browsing mode provides access to all TESE descriptors and non-descriptors (rotated display).
Navigate the hierarchy: this access route may be used to search for a descriptor within the TESE microthesauri.Click on this option and then select one of the microthesauri in the left-hand menu.
You may switch over to another language version of TESE at any time.
When browsing in TESE:
Click on a descriptor to view the entire display (explanatory note, non-descriptors, language equivalents), its semantic environment (associated, generic and specific terms) and, where appropriate, the number of resources indexed using this descriptor on the website.
Click on a microthesaurus code (e.g.: MT 01) to view its hierarchy.
Several download options may be selected by clicking on 'Downloads' (left-hand menu). They include a detailed presentation of TESE.
We should be grateful if you would inform us of any comments which might be helpful for future updating. To access the form provided for this purpose, click on 'Maintenance' (left-hand menu).
Certain descriptors have been taken from the former European Education Thesaurus (TEE) and other new ones added. For further information on this subject, see the following lists:
