Taught Time in Compulsory Education - Database

For 30 countries in the Eurydice Network, the database 'Taught time in compulsory education' includes the number of hours a year devoted to the teaching of 13 different subjects for each grade in primary and secondary full-time compulsory education mainly in public-sector schools.

The Internet interface consists of three modules that provide different kinds of information.

For any request, the web user is allowed to select one or several grades and one or several subjects. The results of the request will be for each grade and subject, the number of hours a year. It is also posible to obtain total taught hours for all subjects.
 
The database allows comparisons across and within countries. For any request, the web user is allowed to select only one or more countries, one or more subjects and one or more grades. It is possible to obtain:
    • an international comparison of the number of hours devoted to the teaching of a subject or set of subjects is for a particular grade;
    • an international comparison of the total number of hours devoted to the teaching of a subject or set of subjects over several grades.
    • the number of hours devoted to a particular subject in a specific grade;
    • changes in the number of hours devoted to a particular subject across a set of grades, or during primary, secondary or compulsory education;
    • the total number of taught hours a year in a particular grade or for a set of grades.
