Teacher and School Head Salaries in Primary and General Secondary Education - Database
For 30 countries in the Eurydice Network, the 'Teacher and School Head Salary' database includes the minimum and maximum basic salaries for both categories of staff in primary, lower and upper general secondary education, mostly in public-sector schools. For countries where the salaries of school heads vary depending on the size of the school, information is available for large and small schools.
The Internet interface consists of three modules that provide different kinds of information.
Depending on the module, the user will have to select: • one or several countries;
• one or several levels of education;
• teacher or school head;
• one or several reference years.
If your selection is too large, processing time can be long.
Module
1 is devoted to comparisons within and across countries. Data concerning minimum and maximum basic salaries are available both in national currency (only for within country data) and as salary / per capita GDP ratio (both for inter and intra-country data). Use module 1 if you want to obtain the minimum and maximum basic salaries of teachers and school heads of one level of education or across different levels of education.
Module 2 is concerned with the ratios of salaries (minimum/maximum and maximum/minimum) expressed as percentages. Such ratios allow users to have an idea of the salary increases for teachers and/or school heads throughout their career (see definitions). Use module 2 if you want to obtain comparisons by level of education within a single country or for one level of education across different countries.
Module
3 is devoted to trends analysis within a single country.
